All-electric. Inspired by nature. Refined into steel.

New for 2026 · World premiere · Milan

The IONIQ 3 is Hyundai's newest all-electric hatchback — purpose-built for urban streets and open roads alike. Previewed by the bold Concept THREE at IAA Mobility 2025, the production model brings the Art of Steel design language into everyday life: expressive Parametric Pixel lighting, a coupe-like silhouette, and a driver-focused interior that puts clarity over complexity. Arriving at European dealers in Q3 2026, it starts from around £30,000.

Powertrain & range

Two battery options give you the flexibility to choose the right range for your lifestyle. The standard 58.3 kWh pack covers everyday driving with ease, while the long-range 81.4 kWh option pushes estimated WLTP range to around 370 miles — comfortably ahead of key rivals. Both variants use a front-wheel-drive layout powered by a 201 hp motor, with a dual-motor AWD version expected to follow. Peak DC rapid charging at 130 kW means you can add 100 miles in as little as 20 minutes.

  • 81.4 kWh — Long-range battery
  • 130 kW — Peak DC fast charging
  • FWD — Front-wheel drive (AWD variant coming)

Design

A compact EV shouldn't have to look like one. The IONIQ 3 takes its cues from the Concept THREE — Hyundai's bold design study unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich — and channels that energy into a production-ready form. The Art of Steel design language shapes every surface: a low-slung, coupe-like silhouette, expressive Parametric Pixel lighting front and rear, and a stance that feels confident without being excessive. Inside, the philosophy is one of purposeful simplicity. The screen sits high in the driver's eyeline for a natural sightline, physical controls are retained where they matter most, and the cabin breathes — clean, considered, and built to spend time in.

Technology & features

Apple CarPlay Ultra The IONIQ 3 is expected to be among the first cars to support Apple's next-generation CarPlay Ultra, offering full-screen integration across every display — including the instrument cluster and head-up display. Customisable themes, widgets, and deep vehicle-data blending make it feel genuinely native to the car, not bolted on.

Next-generation infotainment A large touchscreen is positioned high for easy glances, while a bank of physical switches and knobs sits just below for tactile, eyes-free control. Steering wheel buttons are retained. It's a system designed around driving, not the other way around.

Vehicle-to-load (V2L) Power devices, appliances, or even another EV directly from the IONIQ 3's battery. A Hyundai staple — and expected as standard.

Smart key with motion sensing Walk up with your hands full and the car knows you're there. Higher trims add motion-sensing smart entry alongside wireless phone charging, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Ambient lighting & panoramic roof Multi-colour ambient lighting adapts to your mood and journey. An optional panoramic roof floods the cabin with light, making the most of the IONIQ 3's airy, open interior feel.

Pricing & availability

The IONIQ 3 arrives at European dealers in Q3 2026, with UK pricing expected from around £30,000. Built at Hyundai's facility in Izmit, Turkey, it will be the most accessible model in the IONIQ family — and the one designed to take on the mainstream.

Specifications and pricing are estimated ahead of full official confirmation. Final figures will be published at launch.

  • A standard and long-range battery option (58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh) will likely anchor the trim structure
  • Higher trims are expected to add wireless charging, motion-sensing smart key, heated seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic roof, and multi-colour ambient lighting
  • Apple CarPlay Ultra is expected as an option rather than standard across all grades
  • An AWD performance variant is anticipated down the line, potentially an N-Line or full N model
