The IONIQ 3 takes a different approach from many of today's electric cars.
While the market is increasingly filled with compact SUVs and crossovers, Hyundai has created the IONIQ 3 as a sleek Aero Hatch. An “Aero Hatch” is essentially Hyundai's way of describing the IONIQ 3's aerodynamically optimised hatchback shape. It isn't a new vehicle category like "SUV" or "saloon." It's more of a design term for describing how the IONIQ 3 has been designed as a hatchback, but with a strong focus on reducing aerodynamic drag. Its streamlined silhouette isn't just about making a statement, the aerodynamic design has been developed to help maximise efficiency while creating a surprisingly spacious interior. The result is a car that feels compact and easy to live with around town, while offering the space and versatility expected from a modern family car.
Signature IONIQ pixel lighting and Hyundai's new "Art of Steel" design give the IONIQ 3 a distinctive appearance that helps it stand apart from the crowd.
Choose the range that suits you
One of the biggest advantages of the IONIQ 3 is the choice of two battery options: the 42.2 kWh battery offers an expected range of up to 213 miles, while the larger 61 kWh battery offers an expected range of up to 308 miles.
That makes the IONIQ 3 suitable for a wide variety of drivers. The 42.2 kWh version could be ideal for customers who primarily commute, run local errands and have convenient access to home charging.
For customers who regularly travel longer distances, the 61 kWh version is particularly appealing. With up to 308 miles of projected WLTP range, it provides the freedom to take longer journeys without needing to plan every trip around charging.

Charging made simple
Switching to electric shouldn't mean making life more complicated.
The IONIQ 3 has been designed to make charging as straightforward as possible. Both battery options support 11 kW AC charging (the usual chargers installed at home), while DC rapid charging (available at out of home charging locations such as motorway services, petrol stations and supermarkets) can take the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 29 minutes for the 42.2 kWh model and 30 minutes for the 61 kWh version, when using a suitable charger.

For everyday driving, charging at home overnight can mean starting each morning with the battery ready for the day ahead. For longer journeys, rapid charging provides the flexibility to top up while taking a break.

Safety and confidence built in
Safety is at the heart of the new Hyundai IONIQ 3, with Hyundai SmartSense providing a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems designed to help you stay aware of your surroundings and respond to potential hazards. Depending on specification, features include Highway Driving Assist 2, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Surround View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist and Memory Reversing Assist, alongside systems designed to assist with braking and steering when a potential collision is detected.
The IONIQ 3 also benefits from seven airbags as standard, helping provide reassurance for both drivers and passengers.
Big on space, despite its compact size
Don't let its compact exterior fool you. Hyundai has designed the IONIQ 3 around a long wheelbase and flat-floor interior to maximise passenger space. The result is a cabin designed to provide generous headroom and legroom for five occupants.
There's also 441 litres of luggage capacity, (think 2 large and one medium suitcase), making the IONIQ 3 a practical choice for everyday family life, shopping trips, commuting and weekends away.
Inside, Hyundai has taken inspiration from home furnishings with its "Furnished Space" design philosophy, creating a cabin intended to feel comfortable, welcoming and intuitive rather than simply technology-focused.
Hyundai's newest technology
Technology is at the heart of the IONIQ 3, but Hyundai has focused on making that technology easy to use.
The IONIQ 3 is the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature the new Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS – but don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you have to have an Android device.
Depending on specification, customers can choose from 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch displays, with features including navigation, smartphone connectivity and AI-enhanced voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.
The IONIQ 3 is about more than range

There's also clever storage throughout the cabin, including Hyundai's Megabox, and USB-C connections for front and rear passengers. And for those moments when you need more than just a car, available Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology can supply up to 3.6 kW of power to compatible electrical devices, perfect for charging equipment, powering devices on a day out or adding extra flexibility to your adventures.
