Mike Read is a motor industry expert and the Founder and Managing Director of Read Motor Group, an independent, family-run automotive retailer established in 2010. His career is closely connected with Hyundai: Read Motor Group began with a single Hyundai dealership in 2010, and under Mike’s leadership the business has grown into a multi-site automotive group with Hyundai dealerships across the North and Midlands.
Mike has therefore spent more than 15 years building and managing a business in partnership with Hyundai, giving him extensive first-hand experience of the automotive retail sector, manufacturer relationships, changing consumer expectations and the transition towards hybrid and electric vehicles. Hyundai has been fundamental to the group's growth, with Mike describing how he saw an opportunity in the brand’s expanding model range when he opened the first dealership during the 2010 recession.
That relationship has continued to develop as Read Motor Group has expanded its Hyundai representation. The group has been recognised by Hyundai, including being named Hyundai National Retailer Group of the Year for 2023 and Number One Retailer Group for Customer Focus for the second consecutive year.
