What is Pleos Connect?
Pleos Connect is Hyundai Motor Group’s new-generation infotainment platform, designed around a more flexible, app-based experience.
Built using Android Automotive OS, Pleos Connect brings a familiar, smartphone-inspired approach to the vehicle. Rather than simply connecting your phone to the car, the vehicle itself has a powerful software platform capable of running services and applications directly.
The result is an infotainment experience that can evolve over time through software updates.
A smarter, more intuitive interface
One of the key features of Pleos Connect is its flexible interface.
Drivers can personalise shortcuts and access frequently used functions more easily, while a redesigned interface makes it possible to view information such as navigation, media and vehicle information together.
This means less time spent navigating through menus and more of the information you need available at a glance.
Pleos Connect is also designed to support multitasking, allowing drivers to use different functions simultaneously. For example, you could have your route displayed while controlling your music without having to constantly switch between screens.
Meet Gleo, Hyundai’s AI-powered assistant
Pleos Connect also introduces Gleo, Hyundai’s conversational AI assistant.
Instead of relying solely on rigid commands, Gleo is designed to understand more natural language. This means you can interact with your vehicle in a way that feels more like having a conversation. For example, you can say “It’s hot”, which will turn down the vehicle temperature, instead of saying “Turn the air con on and set to 18 degrees”.
As the technology develops, Gleo is expected to become an increasingly important part of the Pleos Connect experience, helping drivers with navigation, information and vehicle functions.
Navigation designed around electric vehicles
For electric vehicle drivers, Pleos Connect offers particularly useful functionality.
The system is designed to incorporate charging into route planning and can take battery levels into account when calculating journeys. Drivers can also set preferences around the battery level they would like to have at charging stops or on arrival.
This can make planning longer EV journeys considerably easier, reducing the need to manually work out where and when to charge.
Apps built into your Hyundai
Another major difference is the potential to access applications directly through the vehicle.
Pleos Connect includes an App Market, allowing compatible apps and services to be added to the vehicle without relying entirely on a smartphone.
As the platform develops, this creates the possibility of a much broader range of entertainment, navigation and connected services becoming available inside the car.
Designed to get better over time
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of Pleos Connect is that it isn't designed to remain static.
