Hyundai KONA Electric now eligible for full £3,750 Electric Car Grant

Hyundai Motor UK today announces that the KONA Electric has been approved for the full £3,750 retail grant as part of the Electric Car Grant scheme. Previously approved at the Band 2 level of £1,500, customers from today now benefit from an additional £2,250.

The enhanced grant follows a successful review of the environmental credentials of the KONA Electric’s supply chain and manufacturing process.

Alongside the grant, Hyundai continues to support customers with its 0% APR finance offer. The KONA Electric is available to order now.

Ashley Andrew, President, Hyundai Motor UK, said: The KONA Electric has always offered one of the most compelling combinations of range, practicality and value in its class, and now it’s greater value than ever. The £3,750 grant is a meaningful contribution towards the cost of going electric, and the first step to welcoming more models from our line-up into the scheme as the year progresses.”

The KONA Electric is one of the best-selling electric SUVs in Europe, with over 100,000 examples sold across the continent since its launch in 2017. The current second-generation KONA Electric is available with two battery options: a standard range 48.4kWh powertrain delivering 156PS, and a long range 65.4kWh powertrain offering 218PS, with a WLTP range of up to 319 miles. Prices start from £35,000, reduced to £31,250 with the ECG applied.

The Electric Car Grant scheme is run by OZEV, and provides point-of-sale discounts on the purchase price of eligible new electric vehicles. Band 1 eligibility – the highest level of support available under the scheme, now awarded to the KONA Electric – is applied to vehicles that meet the most stringent environmental supply chain criteria, in addition to standard price cap and vehicle eligibility requirements.
