And as part of the regenerative braking system, the electric motor also helps slow the car while charging the battery.

Electric Motor

High torque and high efficiency are the principal attributes of the 42PS electric motor. It delivers impressive acceleration when starting, and can add extra power at higher road speeds.

Petrol Engine

A specially calibrated 1.6-litre GDI direct injection petrol engine
delivers 105 PS with class-leading energy efficiency.

6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission

The innovative Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) delivers a smooth ride
for a truly enjoyable driving experience and faster responsiveness.

Lithium-ion Polymer Battery

The 1.56 kWh high-power battery has superior charge/discharge
characteristics, maximizing both electric driving and energy regeneration.

Stay Safe with Hyundai SmartSense

Hyundai SmartSense is our cutting-edge driver assistance system, built to provide you with more safety. From braking to avoid collisions, to detecting vehicles in your blind spot, the Kona Hybrid is constantly monitoring your environment to protect you from potential hazards while driving.

Lane Keep Assist (LKA)

The Lane Keeping Assist The Lane Keep Assist (LKA) uses the front multi-function camera to monitor the lines of the road. In case of an unintended lane departure, it warns you and can apply counter steering torque to guide the car back to the lane.

Lane Follow Assist (LFA)

Smart sensors and the forward-facing camera detect when the car drifts from the centre of the lane, applying steering torque to maintain road positioning for safety. The car also estimates the trajectory of the vehicle ahead and adjusts its position accordingly.

Blind Spot Collision Warning (BSW)

Radars detect traffic in the vehicle blind spot, warning drivers with an audible alarm when the indicator is used so you can be aware of the traffic around you even when you can’t see it. Standard on Ultimate trim only.

Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA)

Avoid getting too close to pedestrians or vehicles ahead of you with audible alerts and automatic brake application if necessary.
