The KONA Electric offers a range of charging options to suit your grid connection at home and the types of charging stations you have access to throughout the day.​​

Rapid Charging

When using a 50 kW direct current (DC) charging station, KONA Electric’s lithium-ion polymer battery takes about
48 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% state of charge (SOC) for the 39kWh battery and 64 minutes for the 64 kWh battery.​​

Standard Charging

When connected to a home wallbox or public AC charging station, it takes 6 hours 50 minutes to charge the long-range 64 kWh battery pack from 10-100% SOC using the 10.5 kW three phase on-board charger (OBC) or 9 hours 15 minutes usingthe 7.2 kW single phase OBC. For the 39.2 kWh battery pack, charging from 10-100% SOC when connected to a home wall boxor public AC charging station, takes 4 hours 20 minutes using the 10.5 kW three phase on-board charger (OBC) and 6 hours using the 7.2 kW single phase OBC.​​

KONA Electric is equipped with an in-cable control box charging cable that you can plug right into a normal wall socket. This charging cable is intended for emergency use only.

Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW)​

External cameras and the onboard navigation system combine to monitor road speed limits, keeping you informed via the navigation screen to keep your pace at a safe speed.

Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA)

Radars detect traffic in the vehicle blind spot, warning drivers with an audible alarm when the indicator is used so you can be aware of the traffic around you. It will also take action itself, braking to help avoid a collision. Standard on Premium and Ultimate trims.

Lane Follow Assist (LFA)

LFA helps prevent accidental lane departure and keeps your vehicle safely centred within the lane. Using a forward camera to recognise the intended lane, LFA will automatically provide corrective steering input to help maintain the centre path. This not only detects road lines but also the road edge.​

Highway Driving Assist (HDA)

For additional safety, Highway Driving Assist keeps your vehicle at your pre-set speed and maintains road position in your lane. HDA monitors the distance to the vehicles ahead, reducing speed automatically when the gap closes. When the safe distance is restored, HDA resumes the pre-set cruising speed.​

Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA)

Avoid getting too close to pedestrians or vehicles ahead of you with audible alerts, cycle detection and automatic brake application if necessary.​

Driver Attention Warning (DAW)

When a pattern of fatigue or distraction is identified, the system gets your attention with an alert and pop-up message suggesting a break.
