The Hyundai team is getting set to welcome customers old and new to be among the first in the UK to view the new Hyundai Tucson.
The very first models have just arrived at the South Hykeham showroom, in time for a special preview for fortunate would-be car buyers ahead of theTucson’s official launch. Hyundai’s latest SUV has been eagerly anticipated as it represents a significant leap forward for the Hyundai brand.
Tony Whitehorn, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, commented: “The Tucson compact SUV is set to change perceptions of the Hyundai brand in the UK and across Europe. With its bold, striking design, and a new level of comfort and an extensive use of technology – it’s a great leap forward.”
The SUV market is of huge importance to Hyundai, with over 130,000 SUVs sold since the company first launched the Santa Fe in 2001. The Tucson replaces ix35 as the outgoing model, which is Hyundai’s second best-seller in the UK so far this year – which just proves how critical this sector is for the brand.
Glynn Westcott, sales manager for Read Hyundai Lincoln is delighted to be showing off the new flagship model, he commented: “The Tucson has been built to introduce the Hyundai brand to a wide range of new customers who may not have considered Hyundai before.
“We’ve already had great feedback from the motoring press, and there’s a very real anticipation surrounding this model – both from our own loyal Hyundai owners and from individuals new to the brand. “The ix35 has been hugely popular – it represented almost 20 per cent of our sales last year. We find these owners are extremely loyal to their ix35’s – however, the response so far has blown us away.”
It’s great timing for the South Hykeham team as the dealership has just seen the completion of a radical construction project to rebuild and extend the showroom and facilities from the ground up. With its state-of-the-art facilities, the company now boasts a magnificent and airy showroom to display a greater range of models. Mr Westcott added: “We’d outgrown our premises with the popularity of the Hyundai product, but this is such a great location we had to do something radical to create more space. It’s a fabulous environment to set off the range, and customers are already appreciating the comfort and convenience.”
